REFORESTATION: 50,000 trees for more shade, coolness, and quiet
There are things that cannot be explained by "sustainability." They are explained by feeling. At Gandum, reforestation is just that: a comfort that you feel in your body.
We have planted more than 50,000 trees since the beginning of the project. It wasn't to make a nice number. It was to change the microclimate of the place, create an agricultural future, and transform the experience of being here.
The benefit for you
More coolness on hot days: trees create shade and help reduce the heat index around paths, gardens, and living areas.
More silence: dense vegetation absorbs sound and blocks wind. The result is a more realistic sense of quiet.
More nature at your doorstep: more birds, more life, more of a feeling of being in a living place, not a setting.
What this means in practice
The trees are part of agroforestry systems that produce food, protect the soil, and regulate water. There are productive areas and areas left to natural regeneration. This creates a more diverse property: open areas, cool zones, trails, riverbanks, and clearings for relaxation.
And yes, this is also a smart strategy.
Trees:
protect the soil and reduce erosion
help retain moisture
create conditions for more resilient agriculture
capture carbon over time
But most importantly, all of this improves the stay: Gandum becomes more pleasant as it grows.
It's simple, really: when we plant trees, we are planting our next afternoon in the shade.
