About Gandum

Accommodation

Located in Montemor-o-Novo, in the Alentejo, just an hour from Lisbon, Gandum Village is a 4-star rural hotel in the middle of nature, with three independent houses and 18 rooms in a sustainable building made of rammed earth.

The lodge will open in two phases, the first on March 24, 2024, with just the three houses. The second phase will finish construction at the end of the summer of 2024 (expected), and will thus open the 18 rooms of the Cloister building (a natural rammed earth construction).

Remaining offer

In addition to accommodation, Gandum Village has plenty of outdoor space, a restaurant and bar, several terraces, three swimming pools, spaces for children, a coworking and foodlab, a sustainability library, several agroforests where we produce much of the food we serve, from the garden to the table, among other offerings.

Houses

The houses, on the first floor, can accommodate 2 adults and 3 children, or 2 adults and 1 child (studio). One bedroom has a double bed and the other a bunk bed. All have air conditioning, high-speed Wi-Fi, safe, sofa bed, dining table and TV. The bathrooms have a shower (studio) or shower and bathtub, hairdryer, amenities and bathrobe on request. All apartments have a kitchenette with fridge, microwave, sink and cooking kit. Each apartment has its own terrace with table and chairs and views of the countryside.

Rooms

The rooms are doubles, and most are interconnecting, to comfortably accommodate families. All rooms have double or twin beds, air conditioning, high-speed Wi-Fi, safe and television. The bathrooms have a shower and bathtub, hairdryer, amenities and bathrobes on request.

Provenance Restaurant

In our restaurant, with indoor and outdoor space, we prepare healthy, tasty and sustainable meals, made with fresh, seasonal ingredients that we produce in our agroforests or nearby.

The restaurant is open to everyone and serves lunch from Wednesday to Sunday, dinner from Thursday to Saturday and the bar is open every day from 8:30 to 22:00. Our breakfasts are served in the restaurant and on the terrace between 8:00 and 10:30. Delicious and nutritious, with vegan and child-friendly options.

Activities

At Gandum Village we have activities for children, a swimming pool for the little ones, two playgrounds and babysitting. We also have bicycles of various types and sizes, with their accessories and a workshop, a Ping Pong table and a Basketball area. Late check out available. We have a laundry service and a transfer or cab service to make it easier for you to get around, and we allow pets up to 10kg, as long as they are well-mannered.

Nature and surroundings

Gandum Village is located in Sítio de Monfurado, part of the Natura 2000 network, on a 14-hectare farm where olive trees, cork oaks and other trees and plants grow, and where a stream runs through. It is 5 minutes from the center of Montemor-o-Novo, a town of the right size, with all the services and a vibrant cultural life, and 25 minutes from Évora, a World Heritage city and one of the most beautiful and characteristic in the Alentejo.
